What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a heightened state of awareness and focused concentration.

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. We enter and leave this state naturally during our day-to-day experiences. For example, when we are reading a book on the bus and become emotionally involved in the story and missed the stop, we are in a natural hypnotic trance. Although, your conscious mind is aware that you are sitting in a bus and reading a book, your subconscious mind accepts the events in the storybook as real because you are in a state of hypnosis.

Our subconscious mind does not differentiate between what is real and what is not real when we are lost in the book. Consequently, we respond emotionally to what happens in the book.

Hypnosis is derived from the Greek word "hypnos", which means sleep. However it is not a state of sleep. It is instead, a relaxed state of mind that we engage in every day when our brain wave activity slows down to a frequency called "alpha", which we pass through on the way to and from sleep.

How can hypnotherapy help?

In this state of relaxation, we are more open to suggestions. While the conscious mind is still completely aware of what is going on, the subconscious mind has the ability to accept information or suggestions given to it by the hypnotherapist.

We are all influenced by suggestions. Hypnotherapy uses this natural human process to change negative perceptions or patterns of behaviour to the positive.

In a hypnotherapy session, I will assist you to reach a deep level of relaxation in your body, mind and spirit. In this state, your subconscious mind can accept positive suggestions easily. With various hypnotherapy techniques, I can help you identify the root cause of your problem and resolve the issue which you have difficulty resolving yourself.

The important things I want you to know:

  • Hypnosis does not allow someone else to have control over your mind.

  • No one can make you do anything you don't want to do.

  • You cannot get lost somewhere (in your mind, or anywhere else) during hypnosis.

  • You will be aware of what you're saying or doing. You will not forget either, unless you choose to.

5-PATH® Hypnotherapy

I provide a powerful and systematic approach called 5-PATH® Hypnotherapy.

5-PATH® stands for Five Phase Abreative Therapeutic Hypnosis and it was created by Cal Banyan, MA, BCH, a Board Certified Hypnotherapist.

Phase 1: Establish rapport between the therapist and client and attain a deep level of hypnosis.

Phase 2: Identify the cause, clear misconceptions, and eliminate erroneous beliefs of the subconscious.

Phase 3: Remove deep rooted internal anger.

Phase 4: Compound the desired behaviours forming a true resolution with self-acceptance and self-confidence.

Phase 5: Parts Therapy. It is used for persistent issues.

Each session takes about an hour and usually 4 to 6 sessions are required.
